After getting the brief I made the decision to do Abril Fatface, I discussed this in week 1 of 102, Week 1 - Introduction and Reverse History. This is the link access that, In 2006 Veronika Burian and José Scaglione created the company TypeTogether as they wanted to create innovative and stylish solutions, for the typography market, with a main focus on creating personal fonts for others to create branding on devices, websites, magazines, and newspaper. Abril was inspired by 18th and 19th-century posters one main one being Scotch Roman. Like the inspiration, Abril was made mostly for Newspapers and Magazines with high contrast especially with FatFace.

I also looked at how others created a type specimen that was available online, this really helped as gave me images of how to lay out the information and color schemes that others have used.

I then began sketching very rough and quickly, I created clearer versions from them, which were viewed by Kyle who gave me advice and helped me pick the most interesting versions and moved on to Figma.

This is my Figma page where I created different layouts, sizes, and colours. I really enjoyed this process and making them. I picked 3 of my favorites for the group critique which can be read here Week 4 - Group Critique , that advice I took on board and then made changes. Below is the link to all the versions I created.

This is my finished Type Specimen screen, I am very happy with it. I was going for a more modern neat approach and bolder colours to contrast the history of the font inspiration, while still being visually engaging.
