Unfortunately, I was sick and unable to attend in person, so I have looked at the PowerPoint online instead and the other resources.
Charts have been used for centuries and have always been very important to understand and sharing information as they break down information so it can be easily read, they may appear very simple and easily created but that's what makes them so effective and work. Since the creation of simple charts lots of other types of charts have been created with different ways of laying out the information
There are lots of charts seen throughout history like by the Egyptians with the hieroglyphic writing that was carved into stone in the organised chart layout, Charles Joseph Minard is one of the most famous names for creating graphs. He was born in Dijon, France 1871 and worked as a civil engineer, only after retirement he started to fully explore his passion for visualising data. Because of his background, he was incredibly knowledgeable when starting to create maps. He created these flow maps in 1862 which needed to be very accurate and easy to understand, it's a great example of simplifying and highlighting areas of importance making it really readable, and a great example of data visualisation.

Here is a data visualisation project ‘The Colours of Dylan’ it is a visualisation of all of Bob Dylan's 442 songs over 55 years created by Andrea Giambelli with a Master's in design from York University and has gone on to work as a Product Director and is currently working as Accurat. He created these absolutely gorgeous pieces to show Bob Dylan's career, I think they are so beautiful and amazing visualisation that is so carefully created. I also really like the different orders in the different versions the ones seen below are chronological and the other is the key of the song creating these different but similar pieces that really capture your attention. I really love the effective use of colour in them to represent the song key.
