Week 5 was discussing typography that is for screens we started by going back over the basics of the different areas of a font with things like descenders and ascenders. we looked at Serifs, Sans Serifs, and Slab Serifs. We looked at the weight of titles, sub-titles, and the main text body, along with how the different use of fonts for each can add a lot as well.

We took a paragraph from Frankenstein by Mary Kelly and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K Dick using them to create a balanced page with different fonts in the title, sub-title, and text body. We then did research on each book looking at the designs, fonts, and color scheme.

In class, we were reminded of the correct function and usage of punctuation. We looked at where quotes can be placed and changing it to a hanging quote can help the layout and look of the quote.

We completed other tasks that involved us playing with the fonts, size, and weight. I thought these were useful exercises to do as they made us think about and change things I would have normally left. I did find it easier to work with smaller sections of text as when it got to the larger ones with lots more elements it was difficult to lay it all out. Something that did make it easier was font joy with it generated font pairings to create a theme throughout. I looked at what media is online for each book to create the colour scheme and what images would suit them.
