In week 10 we learned about the Internet and how it came about, one of the main people who started this project was Dr Vannevar Bush who was born in 1890, he was a mathematician, engineer, and scientist. While teaching at MIT he created the first analog computer that was able to solve different math equations. His computer went on to be used by the U.S. Army, to track paths of shells and break coded messages.
Just over 100 years later, the Internet has advanced so much that in 1989 The World Wide Web was created by Tim Berners-Lee. It was originally created to allow scientists to automatically share information without having to wait around to receive a physical copy. This was a closed system at the start with only the scientists having access then in 1991, it went global for everyone who had access to use.
After the World Wide Web was created there were more versions created like Web 2.0, the main difference between the 2.0 and 1.0 was the number of people using it so they started talking to each other, participating, and contributing. 2.0 was about socializing with others. 3.0 is the newest version of the web, where the socializing area of the internet has started to move away from the web and to its own individual platforms, even though the web has started to lose the social media side it is still growing with the online business side and opportunities of new technology.
