Reflection on the class - This was our first class back that covered the brief and expectations for the class. The brief is interesting it is a very broad subject that has lots of opportunities. I think the area that you have a great choice within is who it is for because everyone's home life is different with various age ranges. I would like my device to cover multiple ages and maybe be focused on multiple generational households. I have no idea what the device would be like but I am looking forward to exploring and researching all the options that come.

The industry has developed and changed it started back in the 18th century with steam-power machinery and has grown so much since then, but the 4.0 industry is a new time and needs to be designed appropriately in this article by Darren Yeo who is part of the UX Collective about who designers will lead this industry.
He talks about how as designers we need to adapt to change. He references how in the evolution of past industries the ones to adapt quickly become the leaders like in Industry 1.0 when designers in the arts and craft industry didn't adapt and were left behind. This happened again in 2.0 with the art nouveau designers with their ornate designs.
He writes about the 4 ways to become a designer for 4.0

In class, it was mentioned growth mindset vs a fixed one. I started looking at what is a growth mindset and how it helps you as a designer. This article by D. Keith Robinson is about ‘Design with a growth mindset’. He talks about the growth mindset a term from Carol S. Dweck about believing that knowledge and expertise are learned and earned and not limited by natural talent levels.
Talent is an important thing but without hard work and practice it won't amount to much more and limits your highest potential. He covers 3 areas take make a more effective way to learn.
