15 top UX trends

UIDesignz is a UX and UI company that have written the top 15 UX trends that they believe will develop in 2025.

  1. The development of AI - hyper personalisation of AI will allow individuals to create designs that work with their preferences, habits, and behaviors. The algorithms will develop further on websites and apps and will create personalised content, layouts, and recommendations instantly. This allows the users to create their own experience that is relevant and tailored to them.
  2. Interactive interfaces - voice activation and conversational interfaces will become more mainstream we will see this in websites and app designs that will offer voice-activated controls and chatbot interfaces. It will allow potentially smoother interactions for the users and will increase accessibility as it will make it easier, faster, and more convenient.
  3. Augmented reality - the VR and AR technologies that are developing quickly they are creating immersive design elements that will allow users to interact and experience areas like retail, gaming, and education digitally but in a physical space. This will engage users and make interactions more memorable with the lifelike interactions.
  4. Dark Mode - while Dark Mode has developed and become more available across different platforms it will be refined and the user will be able to customise their experience. This will reduce eyestrain strain and themes will adapt and change to different lighting conditions. It will also help reduce the environmental impact with less energy consumption and reduce eyestrain for the users.
  5. Minimalism - in 2025 the design industry will focus more on content than design. To create very simple, sleek, and distraction-free interfaces that focus on the content. It will help reduce the cognitive load allowing users to focus and have the most positive user experience.
  6. Microinteractions - they will help make interfaces feel more responsive and engaging for the user they will incorporate haptic feedback creating a more interesting user experience. It adds a physical dimension to the digital interactions making them feel more intuitive and satisfying for the user.
  7. Neumorphism - it is a bland of flat and Skeuomorphic design that will help bring more depth and subtle textures to user interfaces, like by creating soft shadows and gradients that make them more lifelike and feel touchable. The digital elements will be more visually appealing and also help the user see the difference between different elements based on the depth of the button.
  8. Predictive design - to reduce the multiple steps needed to navigate an interface predictive design will minimise the need for clicks by anticipating what the user needs based on previous interactions and behaviors. It creates a very streamlined user experience that enhances convenience, reduces task time, and improves overall user satisfaction by reducing the amount of unnecessary steps.
  9. Accessibility - designs will continue to change and evolve to become more inclusive and accessible in 2025. They will prioritise features that allow more people to use interfaces easily. Accessibility in designs is needed to be inclusive.
  10. Biometric authorisation - this will be needed as privacy and security concerns are on the rise, so more websites and apps will start applying biometric authorisation when the user is logging on. This can be face recognition, fingerprint scanning, and even iris scanning, it will improve security and offer a convenient and quick way that is hassle-free for the user.
  11. Human-centred AI design - artificial intelligence will become more available for the user and designers are focusing on a human-centred approach to AI which means they are intuitive, transparent, and designed with the user's control in mind. It will help to establish trust with the users as they can control the AI's impact on their experience.
  12. Data visualisation - they will evolve from simple graphs and charts into sophisticated visual stories that will allow the user to better understand the data and be more accessible overall. It will help transform complex information into a simpler form making it easier for the user to interpret it.
  13. Sustainable design - digital platforms will start adopting sustainable design practices when it comes to energy efficiency and eco-conscious choices in visual elements and resource-heavy content. They will create designs that align with environmentally conscious values, reducing energy use and promoting green practices.
  14. Inclusive and gender-neutral designs - creating digital products that respect and represent all users by using gender-neutral language, diverse iconography, and universal colour schemes. To make all interfaces more inclusive and avoid biases.
  15. Scroll animations and parallax effects - it's a way of creating an interactive experience for the users parallax scrolling, animation triggered by scrolling, and other engaging effects create a dynamic and storytelling user experience. They captivate users keep them engaged and help them navigate through a website.

Reflection - the majority of these trends that are predicted are either new technologies that will be adapted into design or areas that have been discussed for years but are still being refined continuously. I think it is very interesting the AI opportunities especially with the personalisation elements, I really think that is where AI is heading and we will see lots of growth.
