Reflection - This was an interesting class that discussed some opportunities that are available for use to travel and learn. This was handy to see what choices we have, that we don't have to do what everyone else does and we can explore others. We also went through etiquette in the workplace which is very important to consider when we talk about jobs or placement we consider how we behave in interviews but it goes further than that everyone you talk to and interact with will have an impact.
We had a talk by Glenda on the employability team about the GoGlobal opportunities and Employability. She talked about all the different places and ways you can go abroad to study or volunteer.
This is a really interesting chance to be able to grow and learn, about yourself and another place. Going abroad is a really interesting opportunity but I don't think it would suit me for a semester or year, I can see myself doing it in the future doing a few week's experience.
The employability section informed me about the graduate’s attributes which are about making yourself stand out from a crowd. This is helpful to see all the areas that make someone stand out and which I can identify with, so I can mention my CV and applications for placement.
Etiquette is something that we have to be very aware of especially in such a small community of designers as it will impact the jobs we get and how we are treated. Etiquette is more than how you dress it's about being aware of how you affect others and being considerate. This is something that we will always consider but will become second nature to do it.
Here are some of the things someone has learned as a designer
