This project is all about university life and we initially our in groups to do group research to help break down this large subject and understand how other people research and develop.

Miro Board

To start the group research off I made a shared Miro board that everyone was assigned a colour to so that when information is added we can see who is helping and doing research. This was met by positive comments from the three others that I'm in the group with. I used the three subject matters that we were given initially about the healthcare care subject to research in class which were healthcare in the UK, healthcare in another country, and innovation in healthcare. I added three boards and made these subjects about university life as a starting point to hopefully give the research some direction.

Everyone has started researching and adding information to the shared board. Aoife and I met up and did some group research together, we both separately worked on the content we were adding and then Aoife started creating surveys for three main groups the sick form age range that would be about to be part of university life, those currently part of university life, and those teaching/ staff members of the university. I did help edit these and check over them and Aoife was the one to do the hard work of creating them, other team members were asked to share them amongst the age ranges that applied to people they knew. She then added them and the responses to the Miro board so that everybody could access them.

Group research session

After class one day we all agreed to meet up and book a library room to do group research together which Aoife and I booked so that we would be able to focus and work through the subject together.

When we met up for the group study session I created a mind map that was about university life and had different subjects branching off like staff, students, finances... I then asked everyone to start adding to each of them and add different sections that were also relevant to university life. After we created this mind map as a group I then asked everyone to pick a subject matter to do a 30-minute research exercise. With their chosen area they could research it within 30 minutes and then share what they had learned after researching.

Some of the interesting things others found out like Aoife from the comparison of the number of societies at Queen's compared to Ulster University which was dramatically less with only 70 plus clubs and Queen's having over 220. Christian found out about careers and the fact that 30% of students are unable to find a part-time job due to their timetables. Magdalena researched finances and the inequalities among students.

I think this group task was worthwhile doing it helped break down the very large subject of university life into smaller areas for everyone to research more and potentially highlight areas of interest. I then asked people in their own time to do another 30-minute exercise, as I felt that we should do more group research available for each other.

The group research as a whole was interesting, I tried my best to help focus some of the research as when we talked about it as a group everyone was very overwhelmed by the broadness of the subject. So that is why I initially set up the three pages with the three subjects. That was a good starting point but I felt like it should be focussed more which is why Aoife and I set up the study session which I think had a really positive result, even during the session Christian had ideas where he could develop it further from the research. I really liked Aoife's surveys that she created that we then sent out and I really appreciate how on the Miro board she created a summarised version of the results, I thought it was really thoughtful as it helped break it down and be more accessible.
