After creating the user's personas and stories I highlighted the main issues being independence, privacy, communication, and responsibility these issues were across all different age groups.
I think smart homes have a great opportunity to alleviate some of these issues as they would be able to reduce friction between household members and increase communication without requiring them to actually communicate. A multi-generational home would impact every member of the household but the one that it would affect the greatest is the most responsible for others, and through my research, I have discovered that the middle age group typically ends up being the most responsible for the younger generation and the older. They are responsible for their health and well-being, communication, conflicts, and organization of every member of the household.
Because they are the most responsible I'm planning on moving forward with creating a smart home that is built for them to use because everyone receives the benefits of the smart home and its potential but they are the member that would receive the most benefits from the assistance of a smart home.
The smart home that is needed to alleviate the issues would be able to help with organisation, automatically changes plans and informs people, is able to provide health monitoring, and allows each member of the household to have independent time.
